Behavior Coach

Hertford County Schools is seeking a District Behavior Support Coach to provide guidance in positive behavior support and mental health services across the district. This role involves collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement effective behavior management plans, promote positive school climates, and enhance student well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive, school-wide behavior management systems based on positive behavior supports.
• Provide training and professional development to teachers and staff on effective behavior management strategies, including proactive interventions and restorative practices.
• Support schools in creating behavior intervention plans for individual students, including functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans.
• Analyze behavior data, identify trends, and recommend adjustments to intervention strategies as needed.
• Monitor the implementation of behavior support plans and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to school staff.
• Assist schools in implementing evidence-based social-emotional learning (SEL) programs and strategies.
• Collaborate with school counselors and support staff to address students' social-emotional needs through targeted interventions and counseling services.
• Work closely with mental health professionals to ensure students have access to appropriate mental health support.
• Assist in identifying and referring students in need of additional mental health services, collaborating with external agencies as necessary.
• Provide training to school staff on recognizing signs of mental health concerns and implementing appropriate intervention strategies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counseling, psychology, education, or a related field.
• Experience in K-12 counseling and expertise in current social-emotional learning strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with school personnel and external agencies.
• Knowledge of positive behavior support systems and mental health services in educational settings.
